The last leg of our Christmas Break was spent in Germany. We started off in the small quaint city called Heidelberg. This town is situation with its castle overlooking the town and a small very German village below. Here is where we brought in the new year!

The next stop on our trip, after an overnight sleep train ride, was in Berlin. Here is big city with so much history from World War 2 to the Berlin Wall. We spent our days doing walking tours of history and our evenings enjoying the delicious beers at local brew pubs.

Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe
Our final day in Berlin was spent at Schsenhausen Concentration Camp about 35 kilometers outside of Berlin. This camp was built in 1936 and was the training came for all the SS officers. This was a very sobering tour for all of us and gave us a great wealth of knowledge on what happened not so very long ago.
Final stop was in Frankfurt to stay with our friend Meghan who is a teacher at an International School in the area.
Frankfurt is located very close to the Rhine River, so we took full advantage of this. We booked a river tour of castles, towns and vineyards and it was beautiful.
Our final day was spent in a little town outside Frankfurt that was 20 minutes by train. This town was called Kronberg, and even though it was raining we still walked around and enjoyed our sights. This was a great way to spend our final day in Europe. Now back to the "endless summer" of Thailand.
